Dear Students, Parents, Teachers, Alumni, and Staff of FD,
I am privileged to write these few words of warm welcome to students and everyone who has a stake in our beloved school, fondly called FD! And it is all the more exciting as I am doing this for the second year in a row.
We have been through a lot last year. We have hurdled so many trials and challenges. Above all, we dreamt of a whole lot of things together. I would like you to know that, with the WASC visit now behind us, we have taken huge strides to keep up to standards and stipulations set by the visiting team. Although final word about our status has not been received yet, I am most happy to inform you of the following:
1. We now have three distinct and separate science laboratories: one for Physics, one for Biology, and one for Chemistry;
2. We also have three new additional spacious classrooms at the old K of C building which we now call FDMC – FD Media Center;
3. The FDMC houses, in addition to the three classrooms, a new library, a conference room, three additional new offices, a music and choir room, a College Counselor’s office, and the temporary lounge of the Seniors’ class.
Last year’s big dream is now a reality. What used to be a dark, dreary, and dingy building is now a posh, bright, and airy edifice that blends very well with the rest of the campus.
A new Student Planner that incorporates, among other things, the Student Handbook is now made available for each and every student.
As we continue to dream big, with the help of a capable team of benefactors, planners, and builders, I welcome each and everyone of you to the new school year just beginning. Just remember what I have quoted a number of times last year: “Coming together is a beginning; staying together is progress; but working together is success.” If we go on in this strain, just as the old song says, “you and I will travel far together.” Welcome back to a new school year then, and let’s go on dreaming and working together!
Sincerely,
Fr. Vitaliano Chito Dimaranan, SDB. MTL, Ph.D
